Net Worth, i.e. Alex and Tana, decide on the theme Rockstar Couture for their T-shirt line, with a little star, an American flag, a box and wavy lines and everything. I dunno, seems a little busy to me. What ever happened to the little yellow smiley face?
In the Magna-mobile, Kendra tries to flirt with the artist by asking if he designed his own shirt, but he’s all full of deprecating humor where, you know, he thinks he’s always the cleverest guy in the room. He just stares at her for a while, until it’s downright uncomfortable, and then says, “Yeah.” They all laugh merrily. Yeah, good one, artsy New York dude.
Kendra is the project manager of Magna, because Craig is a tooly tool. She very casually asks a random woman if they could send out a message to the artist’s contacts at his gallery. Which is like, the best idea ever. Seriously, they never really clarify who actually comes up with these killer marketing ideas, but somehow Kendra always seems to be involved. I mean, I get the feeling that when Kendra brags about these ideas, she makes them seem a bit more effective than they actually are, but seriously, anything is better than handing out flyers on the street. And they are hitting up three thousand art collectors, according to her.
We get to see the gender/race/age battle rage again between Craig and Kendra when they choose a T-shirt design. Kendra likes the heart. Craig likes the star. “Hmm, I think the heart,” Kendra says. Dis. Craig tries to save face by bragging to us, “A lot of the decisions we made were hers. So if we did end up in the boardroom, bye bye.” Uh huh. And if you win, will she be receiving this credit as well?

Trump’s lesson of the week is Keep Your Eye on the Prize. “Never get sidetracked by less important tasks. Always focus on the goal.” We get to see a brilliant depiction of just such focus as Trump intently watches a crane rip off an awning. “What power,” he says. Yup, it’s all about that focus. “If you do get sidetracked, get right back on the rails, because ultimately, sidetracking kills you.” Maybe he’s talking about the machine operators—if they got sidetracked right now, the awnings would collapse on Trump. But somehow I still get the sense that he’s talking about himself. “Fellas, get that building down fast. Say hello to your boss,” he calls out to the construction workers, who are probably flipping him the bird. Hey, there’s Bill Rancic! I know his contract was renewed and all, but what on earth does that man do besides stand around all day and watch Trump doing stuff?
Net Worth decides that they should put studs or rhinestones on their tees, which, honestly...“Oh my God, the Bedazzler is coming back.” Now, I actually got a Bedazzler back in the late ‘80s, and had many a sparkly shirt to prove it. But when that craze came back in for that minute in 2001, I managed to punch in about three studs in a pair of jeans before I thought, “What on earth am I doing?” and packed it away for my future children. Still, Tana swears that she made $10,000 off of T-shirts that she Bedazzled.
And yet, we know it’s not going to go well when the doop-dee-doop music swells up after Tana gets on the phone for a Bedazzler. No one has ‘em. Then she gets ahold of a place that may not have the Bedazzler but has the rhinestones and beads. Now, I get the feeling that lots of craft stores that didn’t carry the Bedazzler still had the beads in stock, but Tana didn’t think to ask that question. So when this sales girl, who turns out to be in some store all the way out in Staten Island, happens to bring up the fact that they have beads, Tana gets all excited. What I want to know is how she got the phone number to the store in the first place without ever realizing that it was in Staten Island? Doesn’t Citysearch tell you what borough you’re looking at? And if she used the Yellow Pages, that would be like a whole different book.
