Robin, This may be the first time I've ever disagreed with you, atlhough perhaps disagree is too strong of a word. My take on the 2012 presidential election is this: there is a role to be played by a variety of participants. Political players such as Palin, Bachman, Huckabee, Trump, Christie, Ryan, Coburn, etc., along with those who observe politics such as Beck, Limbaugh etc on the conservative side and those like Brooks and Noonan on the moderate side will all do what they need to do and say what they need to say. Our actual candidate (who I believe has yet to announce) on the other hand, needs to accomplish just one thing: win in November 2012. And to win, he/she needs to capture more votes than Obama (assuming he's the D nominee). In order to capture more votes this time around, a lot of people who voted for Obama last time need to change their minds. So, how can our nominee achieve that which is no small task? I think that individual needs to primarily promote with CIVILITY and passion a narrow range of issues on which the greatest number of people can agree. The Constitution esp Liberty and fiscal matters are, imho, where most citizens can agree. If the message is appealing, and the nominee fights for the message and not against Obama, then it is my analysis that our side can win. Frankly, I think it is imperative that all of us as conservatives stop campaigning and speaking against Obama so much and speak instead against Progressive policy. Because assuming we ever get another election after 2012, Obama won't be the opposition, but Progressivism will. Better to fight their ideology and not their guy, don't you think, especially when so many people have a favorable opinion of his family and him? So I sort of agree that we need a fighter, but I think we need a fighter FOR Constitutional values and for fiscal recovery, not a fighter AGAINST Obama quite so much.

This article is ecaltxy right. The unthinking editors at mainstream conservative publications like National Review and pundits like Krauthammer and Mark Levin are missing this important aspect of the 2012 election: The communists are going to pull out all stops. Blacks will be rioting in the streets to win in 2012. We better have a no holds barred candidate even if his conservative bonafides are not 100%. Mark Levin especially is letting his ego get in the way of what is best for the nation. Trump has dissed Levin and Levin has become a pathetic attack dog. Once the communists have been kicked out of the executive branch, we can go back to normal politics and support the conservative of our choice. I love Palin and Bachmann but we need someone like Trump for this time and place. Go Trump. PS: call the traitorous Democrats/ Democrat party by their real name: they are all communists now.

Obviously, but you don’t want to give them more of a taegrt than you have to. True, but at the same time you don't want to give them less of a taegrt than you have to. The pundits on each side address themselves mainly to the true believers on their own side, motivating them to get up and doing for their party. If one party is saying something that the general public finds worth listening to, the pundits for the other party can be trusted to make fools of themselves and alienate any undecided voters who happen to catch their remarks. That applies to policy positions, but also to personalities. Look at how the voting public responded to the Clinton/ Lewinsky matter in the 1998 congressional election. If the Republicans nominate a candidate whose personal life is complicated in the ways that the people expect Republicans' lives to be complicated, then I suspect that voters will accept that candidate and punish anyone who makes an issue of it, as in 1998 they punished the Republicans for making an issue of the fact that Bill Clinton was what it had been obvious from the start that he was, to wit the sort of man who has sex with young women in his office. On the other hand, if they want the support of voters who make a point of going to the polls to vote against same-sex marriage, Republicans would be foolish to nominate a virtually uncloseted lesbian for vice president.

, the point of Robin's article (if I dare speak for her) is scclifipaley in regard to the type of man conservatives needs to win against the ilk of Obama and the left. She is spot on. Period. We don't need (and I don't want) a candidate who will play dirty or cheat. We do not need to stoop to the evil (literally) or lies of the left. But we absolutely unquivicably need one who is fearless, who will stand up to the brutal attacks that left will unquestionably mount and get back up when knocked down. The 2012 elections are going to be UGLY at a new and unprecedented level. The left and Obama will do everything they can to maintain their positions of power. While I believe Palin is without a doubt a mamma grizzly, neither she nor Bachmann are electable. Our women (and daughters) deserve better at every level. I can't imagine tolerating my wife being subjected to that kind of abuse and she's no wilting lilly. Huckabee is not a serious candidate for me. Pawlenty and Daniels .I just don't think so.As Robin correctly points out we need a real man; one who is strong, meek (i.e., in control), and Godly (sorry feminists and secularist..) and unafraid. I would, however, gladly and willinglly support a junior King David in the making against the left. The simply shepard boy that he was, David was bold, unfraid and faithful. No one his brothers, the King's army, and King Saul included stepped up to a seemingly impossible task. We need a David who's heart is right with our Lord to boldly step up for the battle in 2012.Robin I truly enjoy your articles, insight and pray all the best to you and yours this Easter. God bless!
